Oil is an important part of our daily life. It is how many of us fuel our cars and warm our homes, without it we could not get from place to place or might suffer in the cold months, but oil drilling has its dangers. The image above is from the BP Oil Spill of April 2009. This spill flowed over the Gulf Coast and Flordia Beaches for several months after the initial explosion. It stopped fishermen from making their living and slowed the tourist economy for these areas.
There have been proposals of drilling off the eastern coast of the United States in the Atlantic. Using the persuasive hamburger model answer the following question. Should drilling occur on the eastern coast of the United States?
Things to remember when writing your paragraph:
-Write a clear introduction sentence that directly states your opinion.
-Provide three clear reasons and for each reason provide facts (supporting details).
-Do not argue for both sides. Make sure all of your reasons clearly support your opinion stated in your first sentence.
-Restate your opinion in another way.
